Jay Nufunk

Jay “NuFunk” Cleary, is a concert promoter, musician, DJ, and avid
music collector. As a founding member of Toronto’s NuFunk Concerts,
The Make if Funky Collective and Groovin in the Park Festival, he has
worked with some of the top DJs in the world including DJs Mixmaster
Mike, Stephen Marley, Grandmaster Flash, Skratch Bastid, Z-Trip,
Bonobo, DJ Shadow, DJ NuMark, DJ Qbert, Fort Knox Five, Krafty Kuts,
A.Skillz and so many others. On top of DJs gigs across Canada, he’s
performed at the Statue of Liberty in New York and Shub Out Festival
in Kingston Jamaica.

As a part of New York’s No Wahala DJs Crew, he and partner DJ
Chibuikem hosted the monthly UNWIND parties, a wildly popular 7-hour
dancefloor session UNWIND is a crowd-moving marathon of reggae, dub,
afrobeat, African pop, hip-hop, soul, funk, breaks & house and one of
the hottest monthly parties in Brooklyn. Taking their name from a West
African Igbo slang for “No Problem” or “No Trouble,” No Wahala DJs
played at: Brooklyn Bowl, Bowery Electric, Brooklyn Bazaar and have
performed alongside UB40, Snoop Lion, Soulive, Tortured Soul, John
Brown’s Body, Easy Star All-Stars, Fishbone, Dub/FX and many others.

Also known as a skilled guitarist, having played across Canada in
afrobeat band High Plains Drifter, roots-reggae outfits Reggaddiction,
House of David Gang, Irie Band, and across the North-East US in NYC’s
electro-soul band FutureType.and Woodstock, NYC’s reggae group Royal
Khaos.
