Josh Bravener and The Hypochondriacs
Josh Bravener and The Hypochondriacs are a band from Fredericton, New Brunswick, whose blend of traditional country, early rock ‘n’ roll, and Stax soul influences has earned them growing recognition and a very loyal following across Canada. Rich storytelling, exciting and infectious melodies, deep worship, and respect for classic Americana have always fueled their fire, and their explosive live show has made them one of the most talked about bands from Canada’s Wild East. Formed in the mid-2010s, the band gained significant attention with the release of their debut album, 3/4 (2016), a collection of songs that effortlessly combined old-school country with the raw energy of primal rock ‘n’ roll. The album quickly drew attention from the regional music scene, showcasing Bravener’s distinctive voice and naked honesty as a songwriter alongside the band’s tight, energetic performances. In 2021, Josh Bravener and The Hypochondriacs released their highly anticipated sophomore album, Waitin’, which marked a clear evolution in their sound. While still grounded in their alt-country roots, the album introduced a more soulful vibe, drawing from R&B, blues, and gospel influences. The result was a mature and nuanced record demonstrating the band’s versatility and ability to adapt while maintaining authenticity and musically showcasing each member’s strengths. With a third album written and scheduled for release in the fall of 2025, Josh Bravener and The Hypochondriacs look to evolve their sound further while pushing the boundaries of the styles that have influenced and informed their music thus far. The band is primed to cover as much ground as possible in the coming months via an active touring schedule and converting new followers at every stop. Josh Bravener and The Hypochondriacs: For the heart that breaks and the ass that
